UTILITY MODEL

A Utility Model protects a new invention that lends particular effectiveness or convenience of application or utilization to machines or parts of the same.

The Utility Model is valid for 5 years from the date of filing the application, and is renewable for a further 5 years.

Requirements to have a Utility Model:

• Novelty:
  The solution must not be included in the “state of the art”, that is, it must not contain anything that was made accessible to the public in the country of reference or elsewhere prior to the filing date of the Patent application, by written or oral description, by its utilization, or by any other means.
• Originality:
  The solution should afford increased efficiency or ease of use compared to the existing products.
• Industrial applicability:
  The invention is considered suitable for industrial application if the object resulting from it can be made or used in any kind of industry, including agriculture.
