Mr. Gonella began his career in 1986 with Nordica S.p.A., where he established the patent department.
In 1989, following the acquisition by Benetton Group of Nordica and other leading companies in the sport sector, he took over the responsibility of the patent portfolio for all the companies in the Group. In 1998 he moved to the parent company Benetton Group S.p.A., where he managed the patent and trademark department until 2001. In the same year he joined Propria, of which he is co-owner.
He is a member of AIPPI and ECTA.
